In our final conversation of the year, we spoke with sex educator, activist and Good Vibrations founder Joani Blank. The talk was candid, honest, eye-opening, and hilarious. It's pretty safe to say that we all learned something new! The evening ended with a giveaway of goodies donated by Good Vibrations - an incredible way to close out 2014! We're grateful to Joani for volunteering her time to chat with us, to Good Vibes for the goodies, to Kindred Table for the food, to Framed Data for their continued and much appreciated sponsorship, and to all of the women who contribute by showing up and joining the conversation. See you in 2015!
About Joani Blank
Joani's career started with a focus on public health, and she shifted towards an emphasis on family planning when she moved to the Bay Area in 1971. She became one of the first volunteers at San Francisco Sex Information, and trained and worked in the Sex Counseling Program at UCSF for several years. In 1975, she founded Down There Press, and two years later founded Good Vibrations as the very first woman-friendly sex shop in the United States. Over the past three decades, Joani has written more than a dozen books on sex, sexuality and talking to your kids about sex. In 2008, the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality granted Joani an honorary Doctor of Arts degree for her more than 30 years of work in the field.
